PC Mag Computer

Often my goal when working with LEGO bricks is to make a sculpture that doesn't look like it was made out of LEGO, but rather to try and make it look as close as possible to the real thing. So, when tasked with building a LEGO PC, I again assumed that I needed to make it as life-like as possible. Upon speaking with the Art Director of PC Magazine, however, I was informed that I needed to make it very LEGO-like. And that required some thinking. How do I make a computer look like a computer built out of LEGO bricks, while also making it look like a computer? In the end, I focused on the bright colors of the LEGO palette to make a PC that both resembled a computer but also touted the LEGO-ness of it.

The computer is featured on the cover of the March 7, 2006 issue of PC Magazine, as well as on PCMag.com which has a fun time-lapse video of me building the CPU.
