Vitamin C is an important vitamin. For one thing, it prevents scurvy. And in my ever-present need to promote scurvy-prevention awareness, I decided I needed to build a large Vitamin C sculpture. Something big and orange and with a large 'c'. I did some research on scurvy and was intrigued by the story of George W. Cramer, the Union soldier who was captured by the South during the Civil War. He was held prisoner for two years and developed a severe case of scurvy, but escaped in February 1865. I decided the Vitamin C sculpture should bear Cramer's name across the bottom. I put his name in gray to reflect the colors worn by the Confederate soldiers who deprived him of his Vitamin C.
Or, I was contacted by Cramer, the integrated marketing firm, requesting me to build their logo for a trade show.
Only one of the above stories is not true.
